Background

Archbishop Carroll was established in 1998 by the Archdiocese of Miami to serve the growing Catholic population in southwest Miami-Dade County. The school sits on 40 acres of land intended to meet the needs of the growing population. The campus has a "college" look and has opportunities to develop as the area develops to meet the needs of the 21st-century learning and beyond. The school is named after Archbishop Coleman Francis Carroll, the first Bishop of Miami. As of 2008, the school has been administered by the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles.

Primum Regnum Dei is the motto of the school: Seek First the Kingdom of God.

Curriculum includes college preparatory courses: Advance Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, Honors, and regular college prep tracks.

For students who need the extra academic challenge: The school provides Primum Regnum Dei Scholars Track as well as Academies for Law and Liberal Studies in which students can earn up to 30 college units and graduate as college Freshmen. Because of the school's campus, More academies are planned to be incorporated as the needs of students arise.

Programs in Sports Medicine, Business, Fine Arts, Broadcasting, Theater and Music are also included to meet the various needs and gifts of students.

A special learning needs program titled Pax Christi, is also available and serves as a springboard to meet students with special learning needs.

In 2011, the One-to-One iPad program as well as integration of technology into the classroom helps students meet the needs of ongoing technology application.

Archbishop Carroll is home of the ACCHS Drum Line, a recognized non-competing drum line. The drum line has performed for Ft. Lauderdale's Winterfest Boat Parade for three years, and has won Best Show Boat two years in a row, 2009 and 2010. It is led by University of Miami's Frost School of Music alumnus, Justin House.
